Billy, Bo and Gary at Mado's!
Here I am, still flying high after a fantastic gig at Cabaret Mado. Boy, did we have a blast! I won’t tell you what our number was because . . . we’ll be doing it again at our big show on April 28 (see upcoming shows page for more info) and I don’t want to ruin the surprise 🙂 Let’s just say that all three of us got to show our true colours! If you were there, you’ll know what I mean 😉
So what were three drag kings doing in a drag queen bar anyway? You’re not gonna believe this but they were actually having a Drag King night! But we were the only *real* drag kings there. No, I’m not being arrogant . . . the grand and gracious Mado said so herself. See, the other drag kings were drag queens. Yup, that’s right . . . men dressed as women dressed as men. Or, as Mado put it, “des hommes habillés comme des lesbiennes” (men dressed as lesbians). I thought it was cute so I backed off on prancing . . .errrr . . .. striding (there ya go, that’s more of a drag king thing to do!) onto the stage and informing her that some of us are bi. Or queer. And that somewhere in the world, there are hetero drag kings.
Anyway, it was fun and the crowd was supportive. Not quite the dyke crowd we’re used to at Meow Mix with hundreds of hotties screaming for us, but fun 🙂 We hope to go back there again!
